I know most of my ‘original’ posts start with a vid, but this someecard seemed more appropriate; however, here’s some follow up ‘content‘ that further drags on the @aplusk ’offline/online’ overflow, since he is the only person on any social channel that can ‘guarantee’ ‘substantial/easily measurable’ ‘ROI‘ (I am continually putting up air quotes as I write this post to be as snarky as possible, because the Kutch deserves the best I can give).
All the stuff I linked to are examples of stuff the Kutch is using his substantial celebrity to promote and bring attention to.  You know it’s a big deal if he or the Biebs put their mug on it-intentionally.
But I digress from what I’m trying to get at in the first place-the ‘return’ in social media is not directly proportional to the immediate impact of any one campaign.  Yes celebrity endoresment is a very good idea with any kind of visual content; but without good ideas and people who are actually passionate about using social media channels to converse and build communities around those ideas, you might have just waisted millions on a mug shot.
Lots of large organizations have already figured this out.  That was the reasoning behind and the impetus for NYT making Page One.  The new landscape has been in it’s development stages since Y2K kicked off and some street lights went out, but the world didn’t end (another grand stroke of over gernalization-I know); at least I have another reason to shut off my cable.  Comcast’s service still sucks.  I don’t think there is any social channel that can help that realization in my heart. *tear*

Christina Perri is pretty good.  Her covers on YouTube are what got her that spot on Dancing with the stars or whatever reality tv talent show that she played ‘Jar of Hearts’ on.

She’s just another artist whose fan base grew and was propelled into the forefront by her YouTube savy; like the Biebs, Keanan Cahil and Greyson Chance.

But she took a page from the Cee lo Green play book by making a popular style of YouTube video: the karaokeable lyric vid.

Her video director put his own creative spin on it, but from an online promotion stand point; it was a great move.

If you want to have viral video success all you need to do is be marginally attractive and do something annoying.  The thumbnail will get the first couple thousand views and the rest will be word of mouth referrals of disbelief.

This video was mirror posted (that term is explained in the video annotations) three days ago and has almost gotten three million views.  What she said wasn’t all that shocking coming out of a girl’s mouth that looks like hers (stereotypically speaking-mirroring what her video was about to be obvious like all of the other videos that responded to hers on YouTube).

This is exactly like the nonsense going on with Rebecca Black’s single ‘Friday.’  Both of these girls are talentless and marginally attractive just like Whitney Cummings, according to Donald Trump from his Roast that aired last night.

(sidenote [that is completely on topic]: the Situation stalled out last night, which was forecasted by everyone including @HuffPostComedy last night before the show-just because people laugh at the personality you project over broadcast mediums doesn’t mean you can do something as difficult as shock comedy or alt humor and do one of the hardest things on the planet: being funny intentionally)

But I’m not knocking Whitney Cummings-she can be hilarious (last side {promise}: snoop got to use the joke in that link last night.  Pale bruenettes can’t tell those jokes.  The same thing happened at a Roast with Sarah Silverman and Eddie Griffin.  Couldn’t find a link to video of it.  It was a little before everything was recorded and hyper linked-4 years ago).

I’m just paraphrasing whoever wrote Donald Trumps set to make my original point about the predictable instability of internet fame and infamy, because most stuff is only funny because it’s true.  Winning!-and the streak has ended; I beliebe.
